About the Event

The two giants of 20th-century music, the universal voice of Turkish music Ahmed Adnan Saygun and the father of Hungarian music Béla Bartók, are coming together in a very special project at the İzmir Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center (AASSM). This concert titled "Saygun meets Bartók" takes the listener on an unparalleled musical and cultural journey through the works of these two composers, who are inspired by their folk music roots.

The works of these two great masters, who immortalized the folk melodies of their own lands in the forms of classical Western music, will be performed under the direction of Conductor Ibrahim Yazıcı. The evening's soloists will be one of Turkey's most esteemed sopranos, Selva Erdener, and the master violinist Ildiko Moog.

These pieces, echoing the folk melodies of Anatolia and Hungary, promise the listener an unforgettable symphonic experience on this meaningful stage bearing Saygun's name. Do not miss this special evening to feel the musical soul of two cultures on the same stage.
