Portrait of Gabriel Fauré in oil on canvas

About the Event

Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) hosts a rare musical encounter between Turkey and Lithuania. The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet will share the stage with the Lithuanian Choir to present an unforgettable symphonic concert comprised of masterpieces of French romanticism. This splendid evening will be conducted by one of our nation's esteemed conductors, İbrahim Yazıcı.

At the heart of the night is Gabriel Fauré's masterpiece "Requiem", offering a solace and tranquility to the human spirit. Unlike the usual, this work envelops the listener with melodies full of hope and calmness and will resonate in the magnificent acoustics of AKM through the joint interpretation of artists from both countries.

The concert program is enriched with two other giants of French music. The evening opens with Camille Saint-Saëns's captivating and uncanny piece "Danse Macabre", inviting the listener to the dance of the dead with a chilling waltz. Following this, Maurice Ravel's work "Le tombeau de Couperin", a tribute of elegance and respect to the masters of the past, will be performed.

Do not miss this historic concert, which brings together two cultures through the universal language of music, showcasing the pinnacle works of symphonic and choral music under the baton of a master conductor.
